Do you struggle with guilt on this edition of Truth and Love?

of Certified Biblical Counselors, where we seek to provide biblical solutions to the problems that people face.

Our guest this week on Truth and Love is Andrew Rogers, a fellow with the Association of

Certified Biblical Counselors and the Pastor of Soul Care at College Park. And we're talking about

the crucial issue of guilt. We live in a fallen world where people are guilty

and struggle with feelings of guilt. And perhaps you or someone you know in love is struggling

with guilt. And we want to talk about that this week. So, Andrew, what is authentic guilt as it's understood from a biblical perspective?

From a biblical perspective, I mean, one is declared guilty. It's an objective thing.

God has said, all have sinned and fallen short, the glory of God. And elsewhere in James, he says, if you violate one, just one

portion of the law, you've violated the whole law. So it's a given fact. You've either

crossed the line or you haven't crossed the line. You've either missed the mark or not missed

the mark. And it's an objective thing. And so you are declared guilty. And in this case,

we are all declared guilty of sin. So this is the problem that all of humanity has, that we are

objectively guilty from a biblical perspective. Every person, every person. Now, that is very different than the way we talk about

guilt as Western Christians, because a lot of times people in Western culture or Christians

will talk about how they feel guilty. What's being discussed there and how do we think about that from a biblical perspective?

Yeah, there's a lot being discussed there.

And I mean, that's part of the problem is you can't just walk away and say, oh, this is what it is.

And so a lot of times in our secular world, we want to minimize it. We've come up

with terms like false guilt. And then we want to, we don't want people to feel guilty anymore.

It's seen as the enemy of human flourishing. People are just not really healthy mentally if they
