I'm John Batter with Richard Epstein of the Hoover Institution

and I take this opportunity to ask Richard

about Tik-Toc. He writes for defining ideas for the Hoover. He teaches law at NYU and the

University of Chicago. And I'm going to guess that Richard is exactly where I am unknown about

Tik-Tok because it's not on my iPhone. I only hear stories, one of which is

that Tik-Tok can gather information, can surveil, can summarize where a person is

doing, not unlike what Instagram or Facebook are said to be able to do with their

apps as well. However, we have this from Singapore. The Chinese government is

signaling that it won't allow a for sale of TikTok, limiting options for the apps owners

as buyers begin lining up to bid for its US operations.

This follows a vote in the House of Representatives

overwhelmingly to say that Tik-Tok will be banned unless it is sold and

then there are some rules. The Senate has not voted so it is not an act of law and
