This week on the business, comedian Ticknotaro has faced one huge crisis after another this year, including cancer.

Now, with an assist from Louis C.K., she's used those experiences to transform her career in a good way.

You can imagine Hollywood everything is really driven by making money. What's with him?

So, John, the Oscar race, you know, it's not too soon.

It's certainly beginning to coalesce in some broad outlines.

And there has been some trouble on the horizon for a very well-received film that has been out for a while now, Beasts of the Southern Wild.

This doesn't have directly to do with the Oscars, but with the Screen Actors Guild Awards,

which, as you know, are extremely important when it comes to Oscars,

because the actors are a huge voting block.

And there has been a decision that Beasts of the Southern Wild,

set in Louisiana in the Bayou, is not eligible to compete for a SAG award.

Not eligible as it stands. And the issue is the movie was a super low budget movie, but it was made outside of the SAG-AFTRA low-budget feature agreement, which stipulates a number of things, including minimum salaries,

but it also covers residuals and reporting and accounting.
