Starting with the extremely close race for the New Jersey governorship, Democrat incumbent

Phil Murphy eaked out a win over Jack Chittarelli, making him the first Democrat to win re-election

But if you've been watching the Virginia state legislature races, Republicans slipped

Overall the Republicans really brought Virginia back to 1860, also winning the lieutenant governor
