It's Thursday, August 14th. Costco has confirmed it will not sell Miff or Pristone, the first of two drugs used in most medication abortions and to manage some miscarriages.

But actually, there are very few retail pharmacies that do dispense the drug.

People seeking a medication abortion or managing an incomplete miscarriage used to have to go to

their doctor's office to get Miffipristone.

But since 2023, regular pharmacies could sell the drug as long as they got a special

certification. But very few pharmacies could sell the drug as long as they got a special certification.

A colleague who is not UWW just messaged me in the past week or 10 days that they had tried

a number of different pharmacies trying to get a Mifapristone prescription

to a patient who was miscarrying,

and none of those pharmacies carried the medication.

Religious organizations have tried to pressure retail pharmacies

not to carry Mifipristone.
