What's up and welcome to a history edition of the Bronx Pins Tribe Show.

Today, a brief history of Yankee Stadium.

Governors, generals, colonels, politicians, and baseball officials gathered together

solemnly yesterday to dedicate the biggest stadium in baseball.

But it was a ball player who did the real dedicating.

In the third inning, with two teammates on the baselines, Babe Ruth smashed a savage home

And that was the real baptism of the new Yankee Stadium.

That also won the game for the Yankees and all the ceremony which had gone before was

74,200 people attended the first baseball game at the original Yankee Stadium.

The team announced that 99,200 people showed up and they had to turn away 25,000 disappointed
