with six small wheels, a short, stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short

stumpy dough. He is the

number one engine on Sir Topham

Hats railway and has a whistle

that sounds like this.

So now you've met the hero of our story

let's begin our journey.

Today was a special day because it was Sir Topham Hat's birthday.

And his mother, Dowager Hat, has arranged a surprise birthday party for him with a cake and lots of gingerbread treats.

Thomas was curious. Why gingerbread? Well, gingerbread is Sir Topham's favourite. He's loved it

ever since he was a little boy after I read him the story of the little gingerbread man who came to life and ran away all by himself.

Thomas chuckled.
