A mod arbor was killed in broad daylight, a little after one in the afternoon on a Sunday.

Now we know Travis McMichael shot him three times at very close range with heavy buck shot from a 12 gauge shotgun.

We know this happened after McMichael and his father and Roddy Bryan used their pickup trucks to chase and then trap a mod on a neighborhood street.

But here's something we don't know, something that I find deeply troubling.

What possessed these three white men?

And what motivated them to chase the young black man?
