| 0:00.0 | All right, gang, check it out. |
| 0:07.5 | We are back once again with our ad for the ASP National Conference. |
| 0:11.7 | And with us on the line is a dear friend of mine, an ASP CEO and wife of Neil Weidner, |
| 0:16.9 | Stephanie, how are you, my friend? |
| 0:18.9 | Good, Mike. |
| 0:19.6 | How are you? |
| 0:20.4 | I'm so glad you guys have been talking about the conference. As you know, |
| 0:24.6 | it is my very, very favorite thing. So I love to come and talk about it and try to get more people involved. |
| 0:31.4 | Yep. So this is going to be out on, excuse me, August 1st, 2025, this episode. |
| 0:37.3 | People will be hearing that first thing in the morning. And so is there still time to sign up for the conference? And if so, how do people do that? There is. We hold off registration, like keep that open until the very last minute. For one thing, we'd like to accommodate and help out as many people as possible. So if we can possibly get you in, we will. We will keep |
| 0:55.5 | registration open at least through the end of September. Right now, we have several spots left |
| 1:00.7 | open. So if you can get in and get signed up, we're just getting ready to schedule people |
| 1:06.4 | into classes. We try to let people to get a list of the classes and then you can kind of put down your preferences, your experience level, what you'd like to, you know, what you're looking for at the training event. And then our range master, Katie Johnson and Jesse Johnson, pour over that. And they spend so much time trying to match people up with the best experience for them. It just, that makes me so, so happy. So the sooner you can get signed up, obviously the better, because we can get you caught up, get you, get all the information you need, get you signed up for classes and get you the most options, because classes will start to fill up at some point. Yeah, for sure. You mentioned Katie and Jesse, and it's funny. Every time somebody mentions the name of someone I always see at the conference, I get a little glow about me. I get excited because I'm like, I'm going to see them in like a month. It's so exciting. You said until the end of September. I think you meant August, right? I did mean the end of August. Thank you. Yes, because it will be starting in September, Friday, September 12th. And so if you can be signed up by the end of August, I might still be able to fit you in early September, but you're going to be better off signing up sooner than later. Absolutely. So Steph's job is to herd cats. And the cat's names are Mike, John, Neil, Chris, and Carrie. Add infinitum. And she does a wonderful job. So do me a favor. if you you listen all the way to the end of this, do you leave us a comment and say, yay, Stephanie or go Stephanie or something because she could use all the, all the encouragement she can get having to deal with me and John and Neil on a daily basis. Stephanie, thanks so much again. I really appreciate coming on. Thanks, Mike. No problem. Well, already, gang, welcome back. Once again, to the Active Self Protection podcast. I am, as always, your host, Mike Williver, and I remain your favorite. Say it with me, Robert. Former Fed. Favorite. Former Fed. With me today. A new friend of mine is Robert. Robert is from the Southern Wisconsin area. We just discussed that before we hit the record button. They're having |
| 2:51.1 | some weather up there. But fortunately, there is no big storms near him so we can continue. He is |
| 2:55.4 | married with two kids. He is by day and engineer and by night or on the weekends. He is a volunteer |
| 3:01.8 | with the fire EMS department in his area. Robert, how are you, sir? I'm doing very well today. How are you doing |
| 3:08.1 | today, Mike? Doing above average, actually. I'm looking forward to this a lot. I made a, you know, I always tell the guest, don't tell me much about your story. Robert just told me zero about his story. I have no idea what we're going to talk about. So that's exciting. And that's frankly the way that I like it. So you are an engineer. Are you an engineer on a railroad or do you work like in a science |
| 3:28.9 | lab or what kind of engineer are you exactly? Nothing as cool as trains, but I do appreciate them. |
| 3:35.6 | Yeah, I'm a commercial HVAC engineer. So I draw blueprints for heating and cooling plans in homes and commercial |
| 3:42.8 | buildings. Very cool. It sounds like some smart guys stuff there. Yeah, I have it just sort of related. |
| 3:49.8 | I have in my retirement started paying more attention to things like weather and architecture. |
| 3:54.8 | So it's mildly related. I watch these big architecture channels that I find them absolutely fascinating. B1M, by the way, if you haven't checked that out, is a great channel to watch. They talk about construction projects and stuff and I geek out of it. Anyway, that was a bit of, that was a bit of an aside. You are also a volunteer. So are you a paramedic, emergency medical technician, firemen? |
