Summary

Kernan Coleman became an activist and critical thinking advocate after losing loved ones who denied the existence of HIV though they were effected. He shares his encounters with celebrities and their belief systems, and how growing up agnostic affected his skepticism as he navigated the world of entertainment. Kernan brings a vivid language to his perspective on anti-vax culture, and discusses other uses of mysticism that can cloud critical thinking and cause people to act on myths. 1:36.8	So would you mind just taking a moment to introduce yourself? My name is Kernan Coleman. I am a branding and graphic design professional up in Santa Rosa, California. And I am a, oh, what else am I? My areas of interest are science, critical thinking, cults, mind control, why we believe what we believe,
2:05.3	having been around almost 60 years now, I'm pretty fascinated by what I believe and why I believe
2:11.4	it. So, right in line with this podcast, of course, and so no wonder I wanted to talk to you. And that's a great list.
2:20.8	So what people are usually interested in to begin with, and I'm always interested in to begin with,
2:27.8	is what drew you to these subjects, as much as you feel comfortable sharing with the audience.
2:33.5	But I'm always interested to see why people care about what they care about in this way.
2:38.0	Well, I started out as a very geeky science kid back in the 60s. My father was a hardcore atheist, a humanist, very much a compassionate, larger than life character.
