For more information on upcoming events, please visit our website at thomisticinstitute.org About the speaker: A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Grabowski earned his B.A. in theology at the University of Steubenville and his Ph.D. at Marquette University. For the last thirty years he has been on the faculty of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where he is currently Ordinary Professor of Moral Theology/ Ethics. He and his wife were appointed to the Pontifical Council for the Family by Pope Benedict XVI in the fall of 2009 where they served as a member couple. He has served two terms as a theological advisor to the U.S.C.C.B. Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family, and Youth and one term as an advisor to the subcommittee which produced the Pastoral Letter Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan (2009). In 2015 he was appointed by Pope Francis to serve as an expert (adiutor) at the Synod of Bishops on the Family. Dr. Grabowski has published widely in the areas of moral theology, marriage, sexuality, and bioethics. His articles have appeared in scholarly journals as Nova et Vetera, The Thomist, The Heythrop Journal, and the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly as well as more popular publications such as America, Commonweal, The Living Light, and Our Sunday Visitor. His books include Sex and Virtue: An Introduction to Sexual Ethics (CUA Press, 2003), Transformed in Christ: Essays on the Renewal of Moral Theology (Sapientia Press, 2017), One Body: A Program of Marriage Formation for the New Evangelization with Claire Grabowski (Emmaus Road Press, 2018), A Catechism for Family Life with Sarah Bartel (CUA Press, 2018), and Raising Catholic Kids for Their Vocations with Claire Grabowski (TAN, 2019). Dr. Grabowski has lectured and presented at conferences across the United States. He and his wife Claire are regular guests on Greg and Lisa Popcak’s radio show More 2 Life on EWTN. They have five children, six grandchildren, and reside in the Archdiocese of Washington.

1:00.4	I want to go back to the, I mentioned to you that when I got to the Synod in 2015 and had the chance to speak with, again, bishops, theologians
1:14.4	from all over the world, two questions were on the top of everyone's agenda at the forefront
1:25.5	of everyone's mind. That is, what's become of the theology of the body?
1:29.7	And again, I think Morris Letitia gives a good answer to that question. But then gender ideology,
1:38.5	what do we do with that? How do we respond to this challenge? Archbishop Richard Smith from Edmonton, who has his back
1:50.0	to you in that bottom center picture and then is up on the top left, when he found out that I had
1:57.2	done my doctoral dissertation on the issue of gender, He said, we got to talk. And he took
2:03.7	me out to lunch and over a plate of clams and linguine that you can only get in Rome. We talked for
2:10.4	three hours about gender idea. Where does it come from? What are the sources? Why is this kind of coming to the fore right now? And how
2:19.7	do we respond to it? And it really kind of, um, alerted me to the fact that even the bishops
2:27.3	feel like they're, they're, they're caught off, off guard. Um, and a little bit unsure of how to respond.
2:37.2	So what I want to do is answer some of those questions with which I was bombarded at the synod.
2:43.1	What is gender ideology?
2:44.7	Where does it come from?
2:45.9	But then draw on what we've been talking about with the theology of the body in terms of formulating the beginning
