Summary

Bob and Jake continue the series on the Theology of the Body and healing by talking about how our identity is found in God. God gives us our identity but it’s possible we have a skewed image of God that affects our identity and peace. It’s important that we are aware of where we are bringing the deep questions of our hearts because if we lose God’s identity, we lose our identity.

0:39.2	us and whatnot so that's where we're headed again, you know, we're in the series of the
0:42.9	theology of the body and today we're talking about identity, you know,
0:45.6	jump all the second in the theology of the body kind of reflects on these
0:48.2	what you might call experiences and it's basically common experiences that the human person has on very generic
0:57.0	levels like the experience of shame or the experience of love or the experience of communion
1:01.6	and those are super important to understand and
1:04.4	help us understand healing because we have these universal experiences etc.
1:09.7	So today we're talking about identity which really it correlates to one of the first sections
1:16.7	and the theology of the body where John Paul II is talking about original man basically that means people before the fall, the experience of Adam and Eve before the fall, and then even more specifically to the experience of who am I and what am I in relation to God before I get into relation to anybody else.
1:39.6	Anything else Bob you'd add there with that kind of introduction to this section?
1:43.1	I think it's helpful to keep in mind John Paul the second's background with this and
1:49.3	that he was both a profoundly holy man with a great understanding of scripture, but also a world-class philosopher in the area of phenomenology.
2:00.6	So when you're talking about experiences, that was his whole field of study is to see how our personal experiences fit with objective truth and reality.
2:11.0	And so in our world where we've unhinged those two and we look at our experience and then we discount objective reality, he brought them together and that's a lot of what the theology of the body is in my understanding is that that union and
