Summary

In the month of July, we are revisiting some of Pastor Joel's favorite episodes from the past. We hope you enjoy one of Pastor Joel's interviews with Dr. Joe Boot.

In this episode of Theology Applied, Dr. Joe Boot (President of the Ezra Institute) reveals the false doctrines that have caused Christians to forfeit so much ground in culture/politics. Pastor Joel Webbon and Dr. Joe Boot thoroughly explain the pitfalls of Westminster Escondido’s Two-Kingdom Theology and The Gospel Coalition’s Social Justice. Neither of these approaches to culture/politics are actually biblical. Dr. Boot further makes his case for proper Christian involvement in culture/politics by distinguishing the Mission of the Church from the Mission of individual Christians.  @Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity

Lastly, Dr. Boot answers an incredibly relevant question: Is Homosexuality/Transgenderism a “Gospel Issue”?

Hey guys, real quick, before we get started, I have a small request. If you've been blessed by our

0:04.5

content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five-star review?

0:09.7

This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content

0:14.6

gets out to as many people as possible. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to another episode of Theology Applied. I am your host, Pastor Joel

0:21.7

Webbin with Right Response Ministries. And what we're doing for the month of July is we are taking

0:26.3

four of our most popular and most important episodes of Theology Applied and we're re-airing them.

0:33.2

Some of you have seen this before, but this episode, you need a refresher.

0:38.6

Some of them you don't.

0:41.2

Some of them, it's like been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.

0:47.5

I'm telling you, this one you could listen to 10 times and glean things away again and again and again.

0:48.6

And it's not because of me.

0:51.2

It's because of my guest, Joe Boot.

0:57.9

Joe Boot is the founder and president of the Ezra Institute. In this episode, we talk about two ways that we can fail within the Christian faith. Within evangelicalism as a whole,

1:04.0

there are two pitfalls that are deadly. One is progressivism, progressive Christians, getting liberal and cute with the word of God,

1:14.8

perverting it, twisting it, right? But on the other hand, the pietist. The person who spiritualizes

1:21.7

everything, the radical two kingdom guy, the person who thinks that Christ and his kingly rule is only ethereal. It's only

1:30.7

spiritual. It's theoretical, but it has no tangible physical, earthly ramifications. That's the person

1:37.9

who has conservative doctrine and Jesus is Lord of their sweet little heart. But Jesus' lordship is not over all things in any real

1:47.7

tangible way. It's the person who is conservative in their doctrine, but they will not engage the

1:54.0

culture. They will not engage the world. Jesus said, my kingdom is not of this world. But Jesus never said my kingdom is not in this world. Jesus said my kingdom is not of this world, but Jesus never said my kingdom is not in this

world. You need to listen to this episode. It's one of my all-time favorites. Tune in now.
