Recently at a live taping of this show at Beta Works in New York City, our curator Daniel

Pink interviewed legendary magazine editor Adam Moss.

I'm always curious about like how do you get here like not like the subway or anything but like bicycle really

Adam went on to describe his rollicking journey through the glossy world of magazines, which took him from Esquire.

I, as this Pipsqueak, got to work with all of my, the heroes that I had worshipped from afar back in Long Island.

To seven days, the much admired but short-lived magazine he launched in 1988.

Anybody remember seven days?

Any New Yorkers here?

Yeah, one person.

Next stop, the New York Times magazine.

Joe Lillivodes, who was then the managing editor,

had liked the rank childishness of seven days and wanted me to come in as a kind of wrecking ball type character inside the New York Times and to go in and he said go make trouble.

That was my job description.

Finally he landed at New York magazine and he stayed there for 15 years.

Under Adam's leadership New York won more national magazine awards than any other publication.

It launched still standing digital spin-offs like the Cut, Vulture, Grub Street, and the Strategists.

And then, in 2019, at the... Grub Street and the strategists.
