Summary

The Real Brady Bros action cannot be contained! It's another two-parter!

We begin this week with a lively discussion about Robert Reed taking up the role of director.

Part 1: When Cindy comes home with a first-place jacks-playing trophy, Bobby realizes that he is the only Brady family member with no first-place trophy. He has a dream about hitting home runs in game 7 of the World Series, and decides that he simply *must* win a trophy.

This week's episode: The Brady Bunch S2 E21  "The Winner" originally aired February 26, 1971

Hello, everyone, and thank you for joining us for the real Brady Bros here.

We are headed back this week to season two, one of my favorite seasons. Chris and I talk

0:22.7

about this all the time. Favorite seasons, the stories, and how they've changed over the arc of our show,

0:28.2

but this one's called the winner. It features Bobby primarily with a problem I think a lot of us

0:34.5

can relate to. I'm Barry Williams. I'm Christopher Knight. We are.

0:39.3

The real Brady Rose. Yes, we are. This was kind of fun to visit, wasn't it? The winner,

1:04.6

from a director who has been an actor and one who is currently an actor, especially, because a lot of our directors

1:11.6

were actors in the past. And don't leave out acting in the same production he's directing.

1:17.6

And I can't pretend to know what that's like. How do you direct yourself? But it's, well,

1:22.2

I can tell you, but he presented some issues for him. And this would be the first of, I don't know how many.

1:30.0

I think there were at least three.

1:31.2

I know that he also directed the goat, mascot, getting Greg's goat.

1:37.2

And this was the, but this was the first.

1:39.9

And this is in season two.

1:41.1

This, by the way, all had to be negotiated.

1:43.1

And I think it was because he kept threatening to leave the show that they were pacifying him with.

1:48.5

Oh, yeah, okay.

1:49.2

You know, they threw him a bone because he had not directed television episodes to my knowledge.

1:56.5

And he took this on with a very studious bent, as you can imagine, being the perfectionist that he was.
