I think it's the number one most dangerous animal in terms of deaths per year on the African continent.

Yeah. It's because they don't, they aren't predisposed to kill, but they are intensely territorial and they can charge on land, on foot up to 18 miles per hour.

And like you said, they are apparently responsible for more human deaths in Africa than any other animal wild animal that is.

Yeah, especially when they become sexually active. That's when a lot of the possessive territory oriented behavior begins.
