The White House orders a review of the Smithsonian Institutions, museums, and other exhibitions,

as President Trump argues that the place is out of control and too focused on, quote,

how horrible our country is. Welcome, I'm Kyle Peterson with the Wall Street Journal.

We're joined today by my colleagues on the editorial page, Kim Strassel and Barton Swain. In a letter to the

Secretary of the Smithsonian this month, the White House announced it would be doing a comprehensive

examination of selected museums and exhibitions to, quote, ensure alignment with

the president's directive to celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan

narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions. The letter signers also add

this. Our goal is not to interfere with the day-to-day operations of

curators or staff, but rather to support a broader vision of excellence that highlights

historically accurate, uplifting, and inclusive portrayals of America's heritage. Here's what
