Summary

There is one thing that the internet (social media) hates the most and that is gluten containing foods. Gluten can trigger inflammatory, immunologic and autoimmune conditions. And in rare conditions, 1-2% of the population, can cause Celiac disease.

This week we will talk about the history of Celiac disease. Then we will discuss how your patient might present on their initial exam such as diarrhea, weight loss and dermatitis. Next step is the initial test for three antibodies. Finally the treatments such as a gluten free diet and replete all the vitamin deficiencies the patient will have.
