Hi, I'm Sahel Hander and I'm associate editor at Persuasion.

I recently wrote a pair of pieces called What the Woke

don't get about the old and what the old don't get about the woke. And essentially

I'm attempting to describe something of a new

generational divide that I think is playing itself out with regards to the kind of

public conversation about what woke is and is how widespread it is what

we even mean when we're talking about it and what what people believe and what they don't. And so the first piece is basically me saying to a bunch of the people who are, you know, your stereotypical old Hebrews that one, not many young people even at the best elite schools are that woke and

I kind of draw upon my experiences at Harvard and how talking to students there has made me think that actually the story that you hear in the media is kind of quite distorted and really the story is much more one of self-censorship because of a very, very distinct

and loud minority and much more one of compulsion than it is of conservation.

And so I think my kind of general take on it

and you'll see in the pieces that it's not so much,

lots of postmodern professors attempting to tell students that there's no such thing as truth which is causing speakers to be de-platformed in so much as it's the fact that there's a bunch of factors in the higher education
