| 0:36.5 | debate on the bill, and we spoke about how this would probably be moot anyway because, |
| 0:40.8 | thanks to the filibuster, it would require 10 Republicans to also vote to open debate, and |
| 0:45.6 | not only weren't there 10 Republicans, there wasn't even one Republican, and so S1 wasn't |
| 0:50.4 | able to move forward, but here's why I think this doesn't mean it's the end of the line |
| 0:53.5 | for S1. |
| 0:54.9 | The fact is that we were never going to get 60 votes on that bill, at any point. |
| 0:58.6 | And the filibuster was going to remain intact until at least Republicans got caught |
| 1:02.5 | abusing it because Joe Manchin is dead set on giving Republicans the opportunity to |
| 1:06.3 | prove him right when he says that the Senate can still function with the filibuster in |
| 1:09.5 | place. |
| 1:10.5 | Now we all know that the Senate can't function, we all know that Republicans aren't interested |
| 1:13.9 | in the Senate functioning, but Manchin threw down that marker, and so of course he's |
