Hello, it's simultaneously great to be back in the newscast studio, but also sad not to be in Edinburgh anymore because we had a great time at the Fringe.

The Scottish theme is actually going to continue because the next episode

of newscast you'll hear after this one will be our much trailed interview with Nicola Sturgeon,

the former First Minister of Scotland. She's got her autobiography, frankly, out, and she did a very,

very frank interview here in the newscast studio, which we recorded a few days ago. And so you'll be able to

hear that in the newscast feed very early on Tuesday morning. And also it will be a broadcast on

television on BBC 2 on Tuesday evening at 7pm. So if you want to watch it as well as listening to it,

Hello, it's Adam in the newscast studio, and there are lots of moving parts when it comes to the US, Russia and Ukraine. On Monday, we had a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

Then we had in the announcement that the leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine will have a virtual meeting on Wednesday.

And this is all building up to Donald Trump's big meeting in Alaska on Friday with Vladimir Putin of Russia.

Or maybe it won't be a big meeting because Donald Trump did a press conference in Washington

on Monday afternoon where I think he described it as it's just a feeling it out meeting.

But he then made also lots of other predictions about how this meeting's going to go

and lots of claims about what Ukraine will have to give up

if it wants a peace deal with Russia. So there is a whole load to untangle, but luckily we're
