Tonight on Frontline, Salmonella,

Sikins and Kills, more of us than any other foodborne pathogen.

About one in four pieces of raw chicken, Carrie Salmonella.

The strains of Salmonella that are showing up on these chickens are tougher, stronger,

and many of them are antibiotic-resistant.

Is there enough on this plate to make one person sick?

There's enough to make thousands of people sick.

So these are all Salmonella hydro bird cases.

Correspondent David Hoffman investigates the largest Salmonella outbreak from poultry in history.

We wondered where does this stop examining the failure to keep the meat supply safe?

The inspection process kept pace with the times?

No, it hasn't.

And raising questions about why more isn't being done to protect consumers.

So is the problem here just that foster farms wouldn't recall?
