Hello Super Great Kids and how are you?

Recently we've been listening to fairy tales from around the world.

Today's story is from Scotland and it's all about a real fairy.

He's a bit of a grumpy fairy as you're here and I'm very pleased to be able to tell you that this tale will be told by the gifted storyteller Amy Douglas.

And this is the first story she's told for Super Great Kids.

What would you say if you were sitting under a tree or on a grassy bank and suddenly you met a fairy just like that?

Boom! Well that's what happens in this story.

What would you say to the fairy? Why don't you have a little think about that? Well we have a quick word with the grownups.

Hello Super Great Kids. Did you think about what you'd say if you met a fairy?

I'm told fairies can be really quite tricky so it's best to be very polite.

And it's not a good idea to give a fairy your name. It might give the magical powers over you.

In the story we're about to hear. It's a tramp who meets a fairy.

A tramp is someone who walks from one town or village to another looking for work or food and who sleeps in the outdoors,

underneath the hedges and stars or wherever they can find a place to sleep.

So are you sitting comfortably then let's give a warm welcome to Amy.

Hello my name is Amy Douglas and I am a storyteller.

I particularly love traditional stories. Those old stories that go from person to person from mouth to ear

and also my stories come from a man called Duncan Williamson.

Duncan was a Scottish traveler and he knew thousands of stories and he passed a lot of those stories on to me.
