Hello from Washington, I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast.

Well as I said last night after the first big between President Trump and former Vice President

Joe Biden, that was a train ride.

I'm not sure that last night's going to be remembered as a debate as much as it could

be remembered as a massacre of American democracy.

We found new lows that we didn't think we could find.

The one thing that maybe the Biden campaign can hand their hat on is their campaign message

that Trump is fully without a plan might have been confirmed many voters last night.

And then the President may have made the only news that's getting traction other than

the tone of the debate and that is his decision not to did announce white supremacy or the

crowdboys but instead to ask them to stand down and stand by which is turning into a big

problem for him and the day after.

But at the end of the day has with everything else in this campaign that actually moved

in the old journal now by a couple of strategists from both sides of the aisle, Republican

Al Cardenist who is the former chair of the Florida Republican Party who worked in President

George W. Bush's campaign.

And Obama's White House Communications Director Jennifer Paul Mary who of course served

this in the same role for Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Did you think it was possible these debates could become more circus like?

I guess I knew theoretically was possible but I couldn't imagine what it would look like
