18-year-old Lynn Schultzie is preparing to take one of her final exams at Middlebury College.

While walking to the exam with her friends, Lynn remembers that she has forgotten her pen

and returns to her dorm room to retrieve it.

Lynn never shows up for the exam and vanishes without a trace.

The case has forgotten about for over 40 years until an unlikely connection is made between

Lynn's disappearance and one of the most sensational crime stories of the modern era.

Hello everyone and welcome to the trail went cold.

I am your host Robin Warder and today I will be presenting our podcast Second Mini-Sode.

As you may or may not know, the trail went cold has officially become a weekly podcast

and we are now alternating between our regular feature length episodes and 10-15 minute mini-sodes.

These are reserved for cold cases which don't have the material for our standard 30-40 minute

episode but have enough interesting details to discuss in a shorter mini-sode.

We feel this is a good way to deliver weekly content to our listeners and provide exposure

for more cold cases. Today I am going to be discussing a strange unsolved cold case which is nearly

45 years old and was very cold for a long time until it recently made headlines again for

an unexpected reason. I previously featured this case in an article I wrote for listfirst.com
