Summary

June 1, 1983. Louisville, Kentucky. 12-year old Ann Gotlib leaves her friend's residence in order to ride her bicycle back to her family's apartment, but she never arrives. When Ann's mother goes searching for her, she discovers Ann's abandoned bicycle outside a department store, but no trace of her can be found. 25 years later, investigators announce that new evidence seems to point towards a convicted sex offender named Gregory Oakley being responsible for Ann's disappearance. However, since Oakley is already deceased by that point, no charges can be filed and Ann's body is never found. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore an unsolved abduction from the 1980s which helped play a role in changing how missing children's investigations were performed. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Louisville office of the FBI at (502) 583-3941. I'm your host Robin Warder and this week we're going to explore an unsolved

missing children's case, the 1983 disappearance of 12-year- old and Gottlieb. I originally received a request to cover this one last year from a listener named Tyler and surprisingly it does not look like it has been featured on too many other podcasts, even though it's often cited as one of the cases, which signaled a major turning point in missing children's investigations.
