After leaving home on a long drive to visit her husband in prison, 65-year-old Maryanne

Fowler stops off at a strip mall to purchase some food from a subway sandwich shop.

When she walks back into the parking lot, Maryanne vanishes without a trace and surveillance

footage shows that she was abducted by the driver of a pickup truck.

Once later, serial killer Derek Todd Lee is arrested after being linked to the murders

of multiple women, but while there's evidence to suggest he could have been responsible

for Maryanne's abduction, investigators cannot conclusively link him to the crime and Maryanne's

body is never found.

After that, the trail went cold.

Hello everyone and welcome to our latest episode of the trail went cold.

I'm your host Robin Warner and today we're going to be covering an horrific unsolved

abduction, the 2002 disappearance of Maryanne Fowler.

Since we've entered the month of December and are edging ever so closer to Christmas,

our podcast is going to spend the next two weeks covering some cold cases which took

place around the holidays.

This particular case was suggested to me last year by a listener from Louisiana named

Cody, so I thought now would be an ideal time to cover it.

Before she went missing, Maryanne Fowler was best known for being the husband of Louisiana's

former elections commissioner who wound up going to prison after we came embroiled in

a major scandal involving bribery and fraud.
