August 17th, 1992.

Joaquigan, Illinois.

While babysitting two children, 11-year-old Holly Staker is sexually assaulted and murdered

inside her apartment.

Two months later, a suspecting Juan Rivera confesses to the crime.

He is subsequently convicted and receives a life sentence.

However, since no physical evidence linked Rivera to the murder and the veracity of his

confession is called into question, he would undergo two separate retrials before his

conviction is vacated for good.
