I'm Emanuel Vaughn Lee, host of this show, an executive editor of Emergence Magazine,

located on the unseated ancestral lands of the Coast Miwok people in present-day Marin County.

ecology, culture, and spirituality. With roots from my own Sufi tradition and experience,

last year I gave a series of talks of how love is, for me, what lies at the axis of all things.

It is the energy, the force, the magic that runs through everything, binding spirit and matter,

the physical and the metaphysical, our inner and outer worlds.

How it is the essence behind all of existence.

I spoke about this in relation to our theme of time, and how love too was the link between

time and place.

In this essay, Appariginal scholar and writer Tyson-Yonkoporta, Weaves a similar thread, bringing us into love magic.

A code, a substance, a spirit, adaptive and emergent,

that flows within all relationships.

And both includes time and sits beyond time.

A space in which time travel, not in the sci-fi sense, but in the sense this space isn't

time-bound or linear, is possible.

He writes that you can't use this magic or make it.

You can only swim in its currents, occasionally choosing which dream will take you.

Like the boomerang he carved from a silky oak for this essay, he urges us to create liminal

texts and objects that can slip between the boundaries of linear time, flowing with

the tides of love magic as a way to foil the wrong stories of our moment,
