entangled in and seeked advice from Atos,

who warns him to stay away from Melady.

Strangely, Atos recognises the ring Melady gave to D'Artagnan as one he owned once before.

Following Atos's counsel, D'Artagnan writes a letter to

Melady, posing as the Comte to end their relationship. Heartbroken, Kitty delivers the letter,

prompting the Lady to erupt in a furious rage and vow revenge on the

comp for rejecting her.
