Welcome to the terrible take a daily segment telling Steelers nation what's on our mind. I'm Alex Kazora.

I gotta wonder when the rent comes due. And what I mean by that is, the Steelers play more close games than any other team in football.

Since Mike Tomlin took over in 2007, Pittsburgh leads the NFL with 151 possession games, wins and losses.

Over that span they have the second best win percentage right at 60%.

And over the last three seasons, they're 22, 9 and 1, 79%, including going 7 and 5 last year

despite their many their many struggles.

So the question is, will that pace continue?

It seems untenable at least at that recent 80% clip.

To be fair, the long-term results have been in their favor. Winning 60% of close

games for nearly two decades is remarkable, but at some point there will be regression, and it can change more dramatically over the course of a single year

Granted most NFL games are close

Blowouts are less common than you think but no one goes down to the wires often as Pittsburgh.

They figure to do the same in 2023.

A run-heavy, low-scoring model like the one they put together lends itself to close and tight games.

They're not in position to blow teams out 34 to 10.

They're going to win like they did the second half of last year, 1613, 2014, 24, 21, so their one-score

games will pile up.

And you just hope, 2023 is not the year where their luck swings against them and they finish

below 500 in those contests.
