The Steelers as an organization have done plenty this off season. They've signed a totally new quarterback room,

added a stud linebacker and Patrick Queen, made trades and drafted heavily to reinforce the offensive line.

The coaching staff looks different especially on

offense and the hope results will be different in 2024. So what else is left to

do? Announce an announcer.

Pittsburgh still has not named an heir to Bill Hillgrove in the radio booth who retired

from calling Steelers games in late February.

The team posted a job search and presumably they are close to a hire.

After all, their first preseason game is about six weeks away.

And make no mistake, it is a big job, the voice of one of football's most popular

teams whose calls will overlay team highlights and big moments in local and

national media cut-ups for decades hillgrove he, he had the voice. As soon as you heard him, you knew who it was,

and it is a big job and big shoes to build. Perhaps a team would pick someone local and known,

like Rob King or Bob Pompeii.

That's been some of the idle speculation. But the longer the team waits it feels

more likely they pick a relative unknown someone out of market. I'm sure with my luck by the time you listen to

this year on Wednesday they'll have made the official announcement but if not

it should be coming soon. Add that to the list of pre-camp news to accompany any

potential contract extensions before the team shows up at Latrobe.
