We've all talked a lot this off season about which players will make the jump in their second year.

with the current sophomore class on the Steelers roster,

there are certainly players that will impress in training camp and beyond.

Nick Herbig is working on his spin moves.

After making the most of his limited reps in his rookie season, it will be exciting to see what he adds to the defense this year, and should earn more playing time, even if he is behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith on the depth chart.

We have the same optimism for Joey Porter Jr.

Kyonu Benton and yes even Broderick Jones despite all the confusion about which side

he'll be lining up on. Although this isn't actually the second season

for Calvin Austin the third, I still put him in this group.

After missing his entire first year with injury,

last season was in all effect his rookie campaign and it was underwhelming to be sure

that was partly due to how he was used in a fairly disappointing Matt Canada offensive scheme

so it's hard to know what we can expect from the small and speedy wide receiver.

By all reports, he is having a strong off season, showing leadership and looking good at practices.

But it's hard to make any judgments based on football and shorts.

When training camp opens, Austin needs to show what he can contribute to this team and he needs to come out of the gate fast.

He isn't a lock to make the 53-man roster and he may not have an advantage over the veterans who were brought in during free agency.

It's a new offense with a new wide receivers coach and a new offensive coordinator.
