I'm Joe Clark. I'm generally curious why the national media has been salivating over the idea of Justin Field starting for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024.

Get that he's a channelizing cross-ort of this athleticism and ability to run and I guess prospect isn't even the right word because he's now during his fourth year in the league.

He made some impressive plays of the Chicago Bears. I know he's never had the best supporting cast in Chicago

and you know there is a lot to like about his game but it seems

if whenever the media is talking about fields on you know these talking head shows

like get up all the panelists act like he's just head and shoulders better than Russell Wilson.

And look, if the Steelers had a, you know, the roster that wasn't as built to win now as it is,

and maybe if they weren't as hungry for some success,

and the team hasn't won the playoff game since 2016,

they're built to win now.

If they weren't as built to win now, then yeah, sure,

it'd be on board with the idea of starting fields

and developing him, working on some of his flaws and you know you take the good

with a bad in that situation but the way the Steelers roster is currently

constructed they're built to win now having a proven winner in Wilson is

just better for Pittsburgh's offense right now.

And I do like Fields a lot.

I hope the team sons was doing an extension.

I think he can be the quarterback of the future,

but I think for this year, sitting Wilson and having given Wilson a shot

is better for the Steelers offense.
