The most exciting part of the book to write is to explain what then these families fill childhood with instead.

With things that actually help progress them towards adulthood, real-world responsibilities, they take on chores and different tasks around the house.

They learn that sense of hard work and independence instead of the screens that just turn them in on themselves into mindless

consumers instead of producers. And so it's a really hope-filled book to say it's possible. It's

never too late to reverse course. I walk parents through how to kind of detox your kids from

these screens if you've already given them. And it's just to say that this is the path to true flourishing.

And it's what I want for every family. And I think we have just unfortunately let these new

technologies just creep into childhood. And now we know, now the data is clear that they're harmful.

And I'm trying to offer parents an escape plan for pushing these back out of childhood.

And an absolutely horrific story, a teenage boy in Kentucky ended his life over an artificially

generated image of himself. The boy's father says a child predator used artificial intelligence

to create a nude image of the boy and then threatened to publish it if that predator did not

receive $3,000.

One of the final messages found on the deceased boy's phone was from the predator saying

the money was quote, not enough.

This tragic story is honestly hard to hear, but it is important.

And we're familiar with the dangers of kids meeting strangers online, social media addiction,

cyberbullying.

But what about artificial intelligence to generate fake images or cheat on homework?
