won't be a long podcast at all but uh but i did want to get john in and i welcome him to the

podcast hello john hey thanks for having me.

So we start off with really some awful news.

I think people on this podcast know that, you know, I lived in New York for many, many years.

I live in Toronto now, but, you know, New York will always be home as well.

And a pretty horrible incident that happened in midtown Manhattan this week and um obviously

I'm sure you have read about it or watched the news about it and uh you know my sympathies go out

to everybody who was impacted certainly particularly the families of those who were killed. And it was just awful

to read about that NYPD police officer. The reason why I'm, at least in terms of bringing that up

on a sports media podcast, is because the National Football League is involved in this story.

And investigators were focusing or have been focusing on the fact that the gunmen it looks

like may have been targeting the headquarters of the NFL when he burst into that office

tower and killed four people um eric adams who's the mayor of new york said that a note was

found on the gunman mentioning the NFL and subsequent reporting.
