Compassion and rule of law?

Or a country of chaos, fear, and hate.

Even though Harris has held the second highest office in the country for the past three

and a half years, she remains a somewhat mysterious figure.

My colleagues Doreen St. Felix and Vincent Cunningham are critics and writers at the New Yorker

who have been following Harris's political trajectory.

Dereen recently wrote a piece for New Yorker.com about Harris's candidacy.

And Vincent's recent novel, Great Expectations, was based on his own experience working

for the Obama campaign.
