host, Kerry Mulestein, and in this episode, I'm tempted to call it a short cast, but it'll probably

be a mid to long range cast just because we have a ton of history to cover. So we're going to try

and get through it. Again, these are crucial for understanding so many other things in the Bible. The things we're going to talk about here are you just have to know it. You're not going to be able to read it all. If you're just doing the reading for Come Follow Me, and if you're going to try and read it all, then you're going to have to read a lot. But I'm going to get you the storyline in a pretty quick fashion. So you may remember that as we ended last time,

we'd gone a little bit beyond what the signed reading was then

because there's all this huge bunch of chapters that we're skipping.

And in this week's reading, we go all the way from,

Anyway, we cover like 200 years in this week's reading. Anyway, we have Jehu killing Jezebel and Ahab's line and starting a different dynasty.

Hazel of Syria is taking over a lot of territory.

And you'll also remember that we had a marriage

between the northern and the southern kingdoms. And you have the daughter of Ahab, who is the mother. Her

name is Athaliah, and she's the mother of Ahaziah King of Judah.

And Ahaziah has just been killed by Jehu.

So when Athaliah, that daughter of Jezebel and Ahab and mother of the king of Judah,

hears that he has died.

She kills all the royal men of Judah and is trying to kill all of the king's sons.

One is spirited away.

His name is Joash, and he's hidden by his aunt, who's married to the high priest Jehoiada.
