Last Thursday I had the supreme privilege of visiting Skelling Michael for the day.

Skelling Michael is... it's a very strange and remote island,

seven miles off the coast of Kerry, into the Atlantic. It's a barren rock in one of the most beautiful places in Ireland and

I'm privileged to have visited it because it's very difficult to get there.

There's only a couple of opportunities to go there a year.

The waiting list is very long.

It's quite dangerous. This is a rock in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

It's dangerous to get there. So most people, when they're lucky enough to even

buck a tour to get to Skelly Michael, 50% of the time their trip is cancelled.

Because the weather is too dangerous or there's a swell in the sea last fucking Thursday.

At about 640 a.m.

I was on a boat with a beautiful clear sky and gorgeous morning sunlight creating tiny rainbows

an ocean spray the spit of God blowing raspberries directly into my face,

and shiny little grey dolphins swam beside the boat like slick leatheryizations, big lanky cunce of seagulls, cannets, bothering the

meniscus and the whole time watching the rock the Skeleg Michael rock watching it transition from
