We have a coaching hire.

The Miami Dolphins have selected a man who, his name was unfamiliar to me, I'll be

honest, but he's a very intriguing fellow. His name is Mike McDaniel, and we must start off by not

burying the lead. He is biracial, so he comes under... Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Yeah,

so in the context of the Times, this is a significant hire.

Well, it's significant, not just because of that, but it continues this trend.

Remember when all people talked about with hiring coaches was why do they keep retrending the same old guys who have been around forever?

That is not what's going on this time around. They are

hiring coordinators who are barely 40 years old, some of them not. The mode of the Sean McVeigh and

the younger coach with good gel in his hair is apparently the way everybody wants to go.

And most of the hires, with the exception of Doug Peterson, are guys who are getting their

first crack at it.

And I'm surprised at that.
