where, as I've been saying for weeks, eventually it just works its way out, all this college

ranking stuff, and it's working its way out in a strange way.

But the biggest news actually didn't have to do with a game result, but had to do with a coach switching schools.

Lincoln Riley is going to USC, leaving behind Oklahoma on the doorstep of its arrival into the SEC.

This shakes up a lot of programs, shakes up Oklahoma, which has been to the college playoff, I think, three times in the last four years.

It shakes up USC out of its doldrums, may shake up the whole Pact 12, and says a lot about the fact

that he signed, I think, a five-year extension on his contract at the beginning of this year

that nobody even wants to mention. What do we make of Riley to the West Coast?

Well, I'll tell you what Dan Olavsky made of it earlier this morning on a national broadcast.

He said that this is the most significant college hiring since Nick Saban.

That's one person's opinion, of course. But he is held in high esteem guys in the business.

I think we can assume that.

And this is a huge step.
