And I am Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe and ESPN, and we welcome you with great enthusiasm to the Thursday edition of the Sports Reporters podcast with so much thrilling about in sports.

But we're going to begin with what was once known as the National Pastime.

And yesterday was a day of boundless fun and intrigue. And back, back, back,

back, back, back, back. Oh, he caught it. Cody Bellinger and bat throwing, glove throwing,

yelling, bleeping, guys, oh my God, baseball is hot. And there's the stuff all over the place.

But I think we ought to begin in that context with that Dodger

game and the catch that Bellinger made off of Young Tatis. And then in the ninth inning,

the always exciting Joe Kelly, relieving Kenley Janssen, who may have been, you know, he's on fumes,

and making life interesting for the Dodgers by walking two guys before we finally got

the ground out. But boy, it capped a long day, including Oakland and Houston and, and oh, will

anybody score on the Braves? I mean, there's so much. And the Yankees are they, you know,

breathing highly. Michael, I mean, this, and Mitch, this has been a very intriguing week of baseball.

Well, let's start with the Dodgers game.

I mean, poor Tyler Brewer last night, having to sweat this out, our producer, it was the opera.

And all I'm thinking in the ninth inning, and I know Tyler was thinking along with me, guys, is,

wait, how did the Dodgers season end a year ago in game five against the nationals?

Oh, wait.

The night changed when Clayton Kershaw gave up two home runs right away.

Back in a blink.

And then Joe Kelly in X-Rrainings ends up with the bases loaded

and gives up a grand slam to Howie Kendrick.
