That was the big problem with Wing Commander, was they basically took the obnoxious Matthew Lillard from Scream and said

you're supposed to like it this time. Whereas in Scream he is awesome because he is playing a character who is an asshole.

Whereas in Wing Commander, he is being an asshole while playing a character who we're supposed to like and identify with.

And that didn't work.

And in this, let's just say his accent steals the show.

It's the best accent I've ever heard and hats off to him for being the only man in the

film to attempt one because otherwise the Kingdom of Ebb, there's no real regional accent at all.
