one. I've been talking to York University's Dr John Cooper, author of the new book, The Queen's

Agent, Francis Walsingham at the Court of Elizabeth I. He's also written the cover feature of the October issue of BBC History magazine,

where he explores how Sir Francis Walsingham went about keeping the Tudor Queen safe from harm in the 16th century.

Elizabeth was a Protestant queen in the charged atmosphere following the Reformation,

and she faced threats, particularly

from Catholic agents who wanted to return to the Catholic way of worship.

I caught up with John Cooper to find out more about Walsingham's methods.

We're talking Francis Walsingham, and in your book, one of the points you're making is that he was responsible for Queen Elizabeth I first security.
