Good evening. I'm John Bachelor. Tonight on the show a conversation with

Evan Ellis of the U.S. Army War College about assassination in Keto, the capital of Ecuador,

the election has eleven days more before the first round of voting.

And Fernando Vilencio, a journalist, become politician, is dead,

shot down without any warning whatsoever coming out of a campaign speech. His death is led

to revelations that point to narcoterism and more corruption from outside.

The president of the country, Guillermo Lasso, says the election will go on. There are suspects

plenty, and some of them have been detained. There are Colombians, I'm told, and other parts of

South America looking very much like people who were paid, who paid them will be the question.

Ecuador is at risk. The violence has been increasing for months, having to do with narcoterism.

There was an assassination of a mayor on a port city some weeks back.

Evan tells me that this story will only grow with an assassination now establishing

violence, not balloting. Also tonight a conversation with Anatole Leven about two episodes,

recent episodes that suggest danger, not only in Ukraine, in the conflict between Russia

and Ukrainians, but also in Belarus, where the Wagner group has been deployed in some fashion.

Near the Polish border, Poland has now sent 2,000 troops to the border, but striking about this

in my conversation with Anatole is that it doesn't have to turn bad. It can continue like this

just fragile. But the Wagner group is lawless. It is involved in all kinds of depredations in Africa,

and we can presume has no rules of engagement. On the other hand, the Polish army is highly

disciplined in a member of NATO. There's opportunity here for trouble, lots of trouble.

Same in the Black Sea, where Mr. Erdogan of Turkey is seeking a new grain deal

in order to begin the conversation about peace. However, Russia is not obliging at this point,
