And it's the Normandy D-Day 80 Anniversary Week,

beginning of June 2024, 80 years on from all those incredible

events but we've actually fast-forwarded to the 15th 16th of August 1944 I'm here

with Paul Woodage, Woody.

We were last chatting up at On de Fontaine,

following the Trail of the Sherwood Rangers,

and you know, here we are still following the Trail of the Sherwood Rangers.

This is very exciting for me because when I was

writing brothers and arms in lockdown you very kindly came down with your mate Colin and did a

wrecky for me because I wasn't allowed to come here. You twisted my arm and I reluctantly went out to explore

a battlefield. I mean honestly terrible times. Yeah yeah you had to be persuaded at point of

a bayonet. But here we are and we're on a bridge overlooking

over the river Noiro which is as you were saying like all these rivers in

Normandy it's kind of 30 foot, you know, 15 yards wide or something.

Quite steep-sided, there's lots of trees, it's quite steep sides coming down to it,

hills either side of it, looking down.

It's quite an obstacle, isn't it?
