Live from the United States where the law is far too often the crime.

This is hell in the law that enforced and in some ways still enforces the crimes of racial segregation and discrimination and housing.

Actually, that law actually created the suburbs.

This isn't only according to today's guest.

In fact, he cites historians making similar arguments back in their early 1980s. There's even urban planners as

far back as the mid-1950s who saw racist government policies institutionalizing

structures of discrimination which were purposely and intentionally made to create

whites-only suburbs. It wasn't a conspiracy, it was the law. Not that the law, especially the Supreme Court, has yet to recognize

the injustice of systemic government-sponsored racism. And here's the kicker, the suburbs

history of being built on racism. And here's the kicker, the suburbs history of being built on racism, with each

verb standing as a stark reminder of the United States long history of structural bigotry.

That's only one, granted maybe the worst thing about the burbs, but that's only one of the many things that really makes the suburbs defy physics by both sucking and blowing at the same time.
