The way that my family looked at money, no one talked about it at all, unless it was to try to show the world that everything was okay, no matter what, especially if things were definitely not okay.

We didn't talk about that. It was all pushed under the rug. If you were in debt, if you couldn't pay your bills, you better figure out a way to at least make

it look like you are doing just fine. And that really messed up my perception of how you're

supposed to handle money, how you're supposed to talk about money, because I had really internalized

through that, that if, again, anything is happening in the

backend, if you are struggling to make ends meet, figure it out, don't talk about it, at least

safe face.
