Summary

Hank Hanegraaff, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, offers thoughts upon hearing of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Queen of the United Kingdom for 70 years, she maintained that the teachings of Jesus Christ served as her guide throughout the entirety of her very long life—indeed, that Christ is the King she serves. In the foreword to The Servant Queen and the King She Serves (Bible Society, 2016), Queen Elizabeth expressed profound gratitude “to God for his steadfast love” throughout the duration of her life. She was also keenly aware of the reality that death is the great equalizer—as the Orthodox funeral service states, in the grave “kings and beggars dwell together.” In Money and Salvation: An Invitation to the Good Way, Andrew Geleris writes, “From the perspective of eternity, only during the relatively brief interval between birth and death does anyone have any control over money. And even this control is somewhat illusory. When, for example, we purchase a home or a plot of land, we claim that we ‘own’ it. However, the land has already seen many owners come and go over the preceding centuries, and one would expect that many more would claim such ‘ownership’ over the land in the future. Therefore, any claim of land ‘ownership’ requires a preposterous suspension of historical awareness.” The land, the wealth, and the honors of this world are all temporary. The Lord Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19–21 NIV 1984). Queen Elizabeth possessed extraordinary wealth as monarch. The question today for her is not, Did I have wealth on Earth? But, How did I use that wealth to store up treasure in heaven?

Hi, this is Hank Hennigraph, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answerman broadcast with another Hank unplug short.

0:21.1

Just moments ago, I received the news that Britain's Queen Elizabeth died at age 96.

0:29.3

Her husband preceded her in death a year ago at the age of, I think it was 99, almost 100.

0:41.2

But in this Hank Unplug short, I think it was 99, almost 100. But in this Hank and plug short, I want to highlight the reality that Queen Elizabeth was crystal clear about the reality that teachings of Christ

0:49.3

served as her guide throughout the entirety of her very, very long life. In the end, she reigned as queen of the

0:57.4

United Kingdom for some 70 years. And during that reign, she was crystal clear that Jesus Christ

1:05.3

was the king that she serves. In the foreword of a book titled the Servant Queen and the King

1:15.0

she serves, the Queen actually expressed profound gratitude to God for his steadfast love

1:22.4

throughout the duration of her life. But she was also aware of the reality that, as the Orthodox funeral service puts

1:30.0

it, death is the great equalizer. In the grave, kings, and beggars dwell together. And as Dr. Andrew

1:42.9

Galeris, author of book titled Money and Salvation, The Good Way, an author

1:49.8

that I interviewed on a Hank Unplug podcast, did an incredible interviewer, an incredible book,

1:55.5

and that book is available to those who stand shoulder to shoulder with us in the battle for

life and truth.

2:00.7

But in that book,

2:02.7

Dr. Galeris points out that from the perspective of eternity, only during the relatively brief

2:08.1

interval between birth and death, does anyone have any control over anything? And even that

2:16.6

control is somewhat illusory. When, for example, we purchase a home

2:22.1

or a plot of land, we claim that we own that home or that plot of land. But the reality is this.

2:32.3

That land has already had other owners. And many in the future may well own that

2:41.9

land or a home as well. So I own a home and I can say, yes, I own a particular home. But in reality,

2:48.4

the minute I die, I don't own that home. The only thing
