Hello and welcome to Nintendo Voice Chat. I'm your host, Brian Altonna with me, Rebecca

Valentine, Parrish Knighter, and Seth Macy. Good morning. Happy Nintendo Direct Day.

We just got a brand new Nintendo Direct, 40 minutes of games we knew about, some surprises,

0:21.8

some little things, some stuff launching literally today. So it's great. I want to start

0:25.8

off with Paper Mario 2, the Thousand Year Door, which in 2004, Parrish Knighter called when

0:35.3

he reviewed it. Highly recommended, takes the cake as the best Mario RPG yet. Parr was

0:42.2

racking his brain to figure out if he actually remembered reviewing that himself turns out

0:46.2

you did. Yeah, he makes the cake, man. I don't remember what system it was on though.

1:23.0

It sort of split into the Mario and Luigi's stories, Rest in Peace. And then there's

1:26.3

the 3DS one, which I didn't really like. I thought I thought our, you know, our Switch

1:32.6

Paper Mario installment was a quality game, but the battle system was kind of messed up,

1:37.5

right? Yeah. It just wasn't as fun at this spinning disk system for battles, not as

1:42.4

great as what this game did, which is, you know, it really, it really brought turn-based

1:48.4

battles to life with the, you know, button presses, the time button presses. It's a common

1:52.5

thing that you can see in so many games today. Yeah. This was, this was still really fresh
